This past weekend, I made the trek over to the United Kingdom to visit Tony (our head designer at Medialoot). I got to check out his digs, his pup, and the second biggest city in the country (aka Birmingham or Brum). It was a ton of fun, and it was really nice to catch up with Tony and see his world.
Oh, and I went to Cadbury World! If you know me, then you know that this was awesome :)
I also have a whole new set of vocabulary words I would like to share now:
- Bin – better word for trashcan
- Black Country – not very useful, but it refers to the region of the UK that used to be into mining and industrial stuff – kind of refers to the working man’s country
- Bog – also refers to the toilet
- Car Park – parking lot, not some sort of awesome speedway to take your cars through
- En-suite – bathroom that’s inside the master bedroom – used like, “fresh towels in the en-suite”
- Hamper – does not only refer to laundry hamper but also any kind of basket. You could get a gift hamper, which would have things like wine and cheese, not your friend’s laundry
- Player – I was called a player multiple times Saturday night by an English gentlemen, who explained to me that it means like a go-getter, and has a positive connotation not a negative one
- Posh – (okay not unknown but I now know how to use it) kind of like stylish and maybe a tad bit snotty, but very chic
- Scoops – aka drinks – Like let’s grab a few scoops at the bar
